How we build and maintain the directory, and how we keep it fair.
Sources
Listings start from open datasets — the Overture Maps Foundation places data and OpenStreetMap — which we filter to bakeries, cake shops, pâtisseries, donut, bagel and pie shops. We remove permanently closed and low-confidence records, merge duplicates and add opening hours that bakeries publish in structured form.
Classification
Bakery styles (for example Mexican panadería, Korean bakery or gluten-free bakery) come from the bakery's name, map tags and category. A bakery can belong to more than one style.
What we write
Guides to bakery styles and treats are written by our editors to explain what something is, what to look for and how to order. Bakery pages summarize facts from the listing — location, hours, services and nearby alternatives. We never invent ratings or reviews; reviews on bakery pages come from visitors and are moderated before publishing.
Order of listings
Lists are ordered by search interest, completeness of information (photos, hours) and data confidence. Payment cannot buy a better position.
Corrections and removal
Anyone can request a correction through the listing form. Owners may ask us to remove a listing; we act on verified requests within 7 days.
